Just thought I would put my 2p into this conversation.
I havent read the speedway star article but what I can say is that David Howe is a model professional & Scunthorpe Speedway through & through. I would love to see him at the EWR riding for the Scorpions next year, once his injury is finally sorted I think he will be on the pace again and riding with confidence can re-discover those home maximums.
I've spoken to David a handful of times at the EWR is he very approachable to any fan, so if your a doubter please go and speak to him. I would also like to point out that David like many of the Scunny riders & management were very kind to my family during a very difficult time when I lost my son 12 year old son to cancer in 2012. Sending Christmas cards, giving him time in the pits & even Richard attended the funeral. The guys at Scunthorpe Speedway are genuine people who go out of there way with kind support. I dont think may people realise what these guys do outside of the actual racing, to me they are all heroes.
Keep your chin up David, get well soon & I along with many others cant wait to see you back.

Hi "rbirkitt98", so you think that Douglas is an odd name. The Douglas Motorcycle Co. was a British company making motorcycles from 1907 up to 1956. In the late twenty's the made a racing dirt track ( speedway ) machine. AS this is a Speedway based forum hence the tag I use. Just a shame you cant reveal who you are then! One name for you and thats a coward! If you can say the stuff on here why cant you say it in person.

Hiya all, after reading this thread and with all the people who are sitting on the fence and shouting but not making alot of noise and not talking about the subject i thought i say my little piece, and if it upsets you all, well tough!!!! Ive also read the speedway star and the spread which David called himself an "idiot" and should of stayed off for longer before returning back to the sport, i totally agree there, should of took a leaf of Darcy Ward book (granted his was a totally different injury) but he didnt come back til he was ready and given the all clear, now look at him compared to David Howe who is on the side line and helping out at another club (which i wont comment on) Im my eyes what i say is the best thing but..... NOT to retire from speedway but to step down to the national league and pass on what talent that you have got onto the youngsters who are starting out and who are also going to recover from injuries alot faster then what David generation does.

And returning to the real world.........How would a rider with PL average of about 6.5 drop to the National League?

As we saw last year when 2 riders ( one of them being Richie Warrall) were allowed to ride in all three leagues at the same time the real world seems to have very little to do with speedway. So with that in mind there shouldn't be a problem with David being able to race in the National league. However seeing how his avarage would be around the 10+ mark wether a team would take him would be anther matter

have any of you who are victimising david howe ever took the time and spoke to this guy,on a general basis, and got too know him?. he has given years too speedway, has come through injuries before, and may well come back from this one as well.not all injuries are as straight forward as they seem at the time, and age is not always a factor.riders whant to do one thing and that is race, dave is not on his own in that he may have come back too early, just take Ashley birks as a recent egsample?. I for one hope that dave does not take the view that comments from a couple of fans is the view of the majority, and that ,unless there are major changes in the running of speedway next season,DAVID HOWE,if he feels fit, would be in my selections

And returning to the real world.........How would a rider with PL average of about 6.5 drop to the National League? Same as how dudley manage to get an elite league rider last year. Ask Hulvik said..... Face it David Howe time in this league are numbered and like i said its best for the sport if he stepped down to the national league
