I have just finished reading his two page article.Talk about a load of excuses for why he didn't score points!!. He says that after his first crash he was not fit when he returned and should have taken longer to get back to fitness or did he have his testimonial in mind? After 2 rides and one dnf the writing was one the wall, David do us all a service and just retire.

Douglas....Whats with the "do us all" comment?....please don't think we all share your opinions on David. I find it hard and quite disturbing how any supporter could disrespect one of Scunthorpe's greatest ever riders. David Howe has served Scunthorpe and the sport of speedway brilliantly over the years...It'll be his decision when to retire..until then, ride on David...A Scorpions Legend.

As I have said before 11 points from 14 rides, do you think this is a good score for a heat leader? The past is the past . Past scores do not win trophy's. Would like to see a team made up of riders from years ago and not win a meeting or a team that is competitive and has a chance of winning the league? I know what I would like to see.

David was granted a testimonial in December 2012. Also the testimonial rider doesn't have to take part in his own meeting.

Are you that thick that you actually think DH was scoring badly on purpose or maybe the team management should have used a crystal ball when building the team in the winter and predicted his injuries? It must be great to live in a perfect world like yours. But then again you probably don't make mistakes because you've never done anything in your meaningless life.

David Howe is a club legend and as such should have the respect of the supporters he has entertained over the years not condemned for getting injured and been unable to recapture his previous form. Would I have David in my team next year if fully fit yes if unfit no

I'm coming up to the EWR tomorrow so maybe you could introduce yourself and put your opinion across to me in person, it would be nice to put a face to the name, however do you introduce yourself as Douglas, scunny 1 or @arialdoh? Because all your posts seem remarkably the same

my team was picked on the basis of david "doing us all a service and just retire" and if you read it said tongue in cheek. if david is in for next year then great but what i cant understand is why david is getting the disrespect and the blame for not winning the league again, is it because we won it without him?

Hi David, It seems that I am not the only one with the same thoughts, as for the other two you mention I have NO idea who they are.

Having read the posts on this thread it would appear to me that only a few people have actually read the article in question before passing comments on the posts placed here. Yes David as been a great servant to Scunthorpe Speedway. That hasn’t ever been questioned even Douglas posted on the 22 June that he hoped David would return to form soon. However a sportsman is only as good as their last performance and a team as strong as their weakest link something David himself acknowledges (see his post on July 30th). The facts and results speak for themselves, since his first shoulder injury last year David is a shadow of the rider he once was. David Howe was idiot ( His words in the speedway star article not mine) he came back to early from this injury and the result is clear to see, and even without his injury David is nearer the end of his racing career then the beginning and things take longer to heal. If David was fit this conversation wouldn’t be taking place but he isn’t and should he continue to race he’s in danger of becoming a joke and it’s for this reason I want him to retire so I can remember him as the good ride he was not the rider he’s in danger of becoming
